Letter from the Board President                       

During the last 18 months Children of Uganda (COU) has been in transition. As you know, our Founder and former Executive Director, Alexis Hefley, left COU and started a completely separate organization. COU has taken this opportunity to reflect, to reinvigorate, and to recruit new staff and Board members who bring their experience and vision to our mission. As many of our Board members are now located on the East coast, we shall also shortly move our offices to that area so as to tap into their energies and passion for the children. We are currently in the planning stages but will be in touch again soon with our new contact information.

Rest assured; we remain constant in our faith and our promise to the almost 700 children who continue to be in the care of Children of Uganda. Thanks to the amazing commitment of our sponsors and donors, every child proudly finished their 2007 school year, and all eagerly look forward to beginning the new school year in February 2008.

As we begin 2008 we are full of hope and energy. We will keep you up-do-date on changes and activities as the year progresses. One change is that, at least in the early part of 2008, we will not be bringing some of our children to the United States to perform in the traditional ?Tour of Light?, as we have been doing since 1996. We are eager to resume our Tour and will certainly keep you informed of any developments.

In the meantime we are pleased to share with you some observations from Rob Alberts, our Executive Director, on his recent trip to Uganda to visit our homes. We also attach a story from Ronald, one of our children living with HIV.
